BREATHCORE_LIVE is a choir exploring modes of collectivity through the practice of breathing.  Performers let their breath resonate and create a field of blurred respiratory noisescapes. Their individual breath signatures interact, barely detectable, creating an atmosphere of diluted presences.

BREATHCORES are without conductor or score and vary in format and form.

A preparatory workshop of approximately 3-5 days precedes the public moment. The size of the group is flexible in size and can range from 10 to 100 participants. The project is open to everyone. No stage experience or special qualifications are needed.

The workshop lays a special focus on breathing exercises from various cultures and traditions (Pranayama, Qigong, Middendorf, Inner Fire Meditation etc.) and combines these with listening practices, synchronisation exercises and dialogue.

During the public showing the performers infiltrate the public, transforming the space into one breathing body where the breath sources become undetectable and the borders between public and performer are diluted.

Each public moment of BREATHCORE becomes a unique momentary snapshot of the group’s collective qualities.
